It has been a busy time since the last news post. In its first year of business, Mechsafe has successfully delivered a large range of diverse projects. On the structural side, the most notable was the development of the BHP Billiton boardwalk at the new Perth Stadium. This turn-key design project involved 3D modelling and structural development of the initial architectural concepts, FEA, detail drafting using laser scanned survey data of the site and production of the bill of materials, specifications and fabrication drawings. The total length of the boardwalk is around 350 m.

Mechsafe has assisted various Western Australian manufacturers of mining equipment, such as dump truck tray bodies, excavator buckets and cable and hose reels, to improve their designs and assure compliance with Australian and international standards for structures subject to high levels of fatigue loading. For several of these projects, Mechsafe carried out strain gauging to eliminate assumptions from the derivation of design loads.

Strain gauging carried out by Mechsafe at various Australian mine sites was used to supplement troubleshooting, fatigue failure and crack propagation root cause analysis work on heavy mining machines including a stacker and vibrating process screens.
